About Us » Design FAQS

The Living Bulletin was carefully designed to incorporate important Christian imagery.

Why are stones used for parts of the background?
The stone background symbolizes the underground catacombs or secret hiding places where early Christians went to worship and avoid persecution.

Why is wood used in the header and what does it symbolize?
The wood symbolizes Christ's cross and His direction to “take up your cross and follow me.” (cf. Mt 16:25).

Why is there purple shadowing throughout the site?
The light purple shadowing you'll see represents the Holy Spirit, the powerful role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and our pure appreciation for the gift of life.

Why is the main background texture chosen?
The bleached white background represents old paper or parchment, which we feel is appropriate for the "Living Bulletin." God's word was originally written on parchment and then collected into what we know as the bible.

Why is the color black used on some admin area headers?
Church clergy often wear black to symbolize humility, the call to live simply and the pursuit of virtues befitting the clerical office. It also symbolizes penitence and mourning... or the call to “take up your cross and follow me” (cf. Mt 16:25). Black is a reminder that Christians live not for themselves, but for a greater reality: life with God.
